Gold is a precious metal that is exceptionally resistant to corrosion and pigmentation. It is soft, malleable and ductile.

In Hong Kong, is traditionally sold by the tael, equivalent to 37.429 grams. When are used in making jewelry, gold, or is pure (999.9 or 24K gold ") or alloys of different purity levels (the Act). But mixed with copper, silver and palladium, gives rise to different alloys commonly known as the K-karat gold or gold. The most common alloys are 18K (pure gold to 75%) and 14k (58.5% pure gold). The hardness of karat gold makes it suitable for jewelry with diamonds sapphires.

The proportion and nature of the added metal can change the color and hardness of the alloys. For example, an alloy of red has a higher proportion copper, while silver alloy has a higher proportion of the money. By "white gold" is not used copper. White gold is another form of carats, but the presence of silver and nickel or palladium creates an appearance full of money.
